Dear Readers,

This post is my heartfelt gratitude for supporting and being with me on this journey. This year, I migrated my blog from blogspot to a domain website, wrote on varied and compelling topics and started interacting with all of you on various social media platforms. Without your constant love and encouragement, I wouldn’t have reached this far.

Diwali Rangoli and Diyas

This poem is my way of thanking you all on the occasion of Diwali(the festival of lights). From lighting diyas (oil lamps) to preparing delicious sweets; from spending hours perfecting the rangoli to dressing up in our finest clothes, nothing is as close to home as Diwali. On one of my walks around my neighbourhood this week, I saw the entire street buzzing with activity for the much-awaited festival. The poem entails this and much more.

Diwali Rangoli and Diyas

Wishing each one of you a very Happy, Prosperous and Healthy Diwali!

Walking by the streets,
I look at all the tasty treats,
The buzzing hullabaloo of vendors and people,
Children running around with colourful candy,
Vibrant sarees and bright dresses,
It is so picturesque!

Fresh veggies and fruits on sale,
Marigold flowers of golden and orange,
Sweets in silver and red,
It almost seems like organized chaos!

Rangolis and festoons,
Firecrackers and eye-catching fairy lights,
Everyone is excited,
For the start of the festive season.

Families buying merchandise,
Colour coordinating children,
Cheery atmosphere,
Bringing a smile on everyone’s face.

Even the ones in sorrow,
Cannot help but smile,
In hope and optimism,
For the start of the new year,
Praying for it to be better than the last.

All the souls are uniting,
To shine brilliantly,
In the time of darkness,
Let the “Diya” within you burn brightly!
